Matthew Chinea
We sat down with Laboratory Supervisor, Matthew Chinea, to learn more about him and why he loves working at Ellie.
What's your role at Ellie?
I am the Louisville Laboratory Supervisor. I oversee and help facilitate operations of the lab, assist the technicians on the floor when needed, ensure that samples are being ran properly, and verify results are being sent to clients in accordance with our turnaround time. I also verify that our analyzers operate correctly and monitor their results to identify and resolve any data trends.
Tell us about yourself.
I was born in California but raised in Michigan. I lived in Michigan for twelve years spanning the first through twelfth grades. I moved to Texas for my higher education, going to the University of Texas at Dallas, and received my B.S. in Molecular Biology. Ellie was my first professional lab experience after graduating, but I have learned a great deal from my mentors here at Ellie. I spent the first 11 months working as various levels of lab technician but have since moved to my new role as the Lab Supervisor. I had a dog named Dusty, a Lhasa Apso, during my time in Michigan, but he passed away at 16 before my time began at Ellie.
What is your favorite part about working at Ellie?
My favorite part about Ellie is working with such knowledgeable, intelligent, and kind people. Being able to work with such professionals makes it a joy to come to work.
What are your hobbies outside of work?
Outside of work, I enjoy hiking, kayaking, reading, playing video games, and spending time with friends and family.

"Ellie strives to provide high-quality diagnostics with an excellent customer service experience. It’s something I can really appreciate from the time I had with my dog. I would absolutely want the highest quality of service and care for my puppy and being part of a company that strives to do that is very satisfying."
