Johnathan Gibson
We sat down with Hematology Technician, Johnny Gibson, to learn more about him and why he loves working at Ellie.
What's your role at Ellie?
I am a Hematology Tech here at Ellie. I run in-house bloodwork on a variety of different pets. Through a fixed algorithm, I investigate abnormalities that are triggered through the Advia 2120i Hematology System. I also maintenance and troubleshoot the analyzers we use in the hematology department.
Tell us about yourself.
Before I came to Ellie, I was a Vet Tech for 4 years. I graduated from Central High School in 2013 and went on to attend the University of Houston where I majored in Biology. I'm originally from Denver, Colorado but I moved to Louisville when I was 16. I experienced a little bit of a culture shock when I realized how completely different Kentucky was from Colorado. It took me a little time, but I've grown to love it.
What is your favorite part about working at Ellie?
My favorite part about working at Ellie is the countless opportunities I get working with and learning from the brilliant minds that Ellie has brought together. I've met researchers, scientists, and doctors through Ellie that I would otherwise would not have had the opportunity to meet.
What are your hobbies outside of work?
My hobbies are listening to music, working out, anime, and I'm a fairly decent in line skater.
