[Alex Ruiz](https://www.elliediagnostics.com/blog/author/alex-ruiz) Sep 20, 2024 --- ### Welcoming Dr. Chu to the Ellie Diagnostics Team Ellie Diagnostics is thrilled to announce the addition of Shelley Chu (DVM, DACVP-Clinical) to our growing team of Clinical Pathologists. Dr. Chu brings with her both a breadth and depth of expertise in veterinary diagnostics.  **Dr. Chu’s Journey and Educational Background**  Dr. Chu grew up in Delaware City, Delaware, and her passion for veterinary medicine took her on a journey that traversed the east coast. She earned her first Bachelor of Science with a pre-veterinary concentration from the University of Delaware, followed by a second through the Clinical Laboratory Science program at the University of Kentucky. Dr. Chu then continued her academic pursuits, obtaining her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) from Auburn University before spending five years as a general practitioner in small animal medicine in Georgia. She developed an interest in the field of veterinary diagnostics, driving her to pursue and complete both an internship and residency in veterinary clinical pathology at Cornell University. She successfully became a diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Pathologists before staying on at Cornell as a fellow and member of the clinical faculty prior to joining Ellie Diagnostics.  **Life Outside of Veterinary Medicine**  Currently residing in Cortland, New York, Dr. Chu enjoys a rich personal life. She’s been married to her husband, Joshua Chu, for 11 years. Together, they share their home with a lovable Aussie/Border Collie mix named Pylori and three charming cats - Peanut, Pickles, and Patches.  When she's not busy diagnosing cases, Dr. Chu has a passion for gardening, with a special love for flowers. She also enjoys cross-stitching and working on the restoration of their historic 1880s house alongside her husband.  **A Bright Future at Ellie Diagnostics**  We are excited to have Dr. Chu on board as part of our dedicated team, and we look forward to the continued impact she will have on our veterinary diagnostics services.
